Vacon's new liquid cooled drives offer 25% cost saving and smaller footprint

Energy saving specialist VACON UK has launched a range of space saving, high power density AC drives VACON NXP liquid cooled enclosed drives. The new VACON NXP drives can offer 25% lifecycle cost savings compared to air cooled drives, whilst having a considerably smaller footprint and generating much less noise.

These high performance drives with superior cooling capabilities are a safe and reliable solution for demanding applications, particularly where space is an issue. They have been successfully used in a variety of heavy industries with tough operating conditions such as marine and offshore, pulp and paper, renewable energy, oil and gas, water and wastewater and mining steel works.

VACON NXP drives eliminate the need for large and noisy air conditioning systems. Their state-of-the-art liquid cooled design allows heat to be readily transferred to a location where it can be dissipated conveniently.

The new liquid cooled drives dissipate only 0.1 to 0.15% of their heat losses to air, helping customers save energy and money on initial installation and operational costs. And, as an added benefit, they are also up to 12 decibels less noisy than fan based drives.

The compact size and smart modular design of the NXP drives also delivers a variety of other benefits. In addition to saving floor space and installation costs, their unique design enables easier installation, connectivity and maintenance. Although 25% smaller in volume than similarly rated products available on the market, VACONís NXP liquid cooled units deliver the same, if not better, performance.

An extensive range of ready to use software applications is available so customers can tailor the driveís performance to the applicationís specific needs.

The standard VACON NXP liquid cooled enclosed drives can be used with AC motors from 800-1550 kW. However, by using VACONís patented DriveSync control concept, four drives can be operated in parallel, offering an outstanding power range up to 5.3 MW.
