Polypipe WMS Achieves WRc Approval for Ridgistorm-XL

Posted: Friday 13th November 2009

Polypipe Civils has achieved WRc approval for its Ridgistorm-XL large diameter pipe system – the most advanced large diameter plastic pipe solution available in the UK.

All pipe profile options, stiffness classes up to SN8 and diameters from 750 to 2100mm are included within the certification The Ridgistorm-XL approval covers all bespoke fabrications work carried out by Polypipe’s in-house Fabrications Team based in Loughborough. As Ridgistorm-XL is manufactured as a value engineered, bespoke product to meet the requirements of each project, Polypipe Civils received approval for its design software. Ridgistorm-XL’s unique and patented electro-fusion jointing method is also covered by the WRc Approved Scheme for the tensile strength of each joint, the jointing method and Polypipe Civils’ installation manual and guidance.

The tests were carried out in accordance with BSEN 13476-1-2-3 standard – the new European standard for structured-wall pipes, and witnessed by the WRc. This testing covers key criteria including the pipe material, stiffness, creep and resistance to impact, ensuring that all elements of the Ridgistorm-XL solution perform to the standards required for modern construction and civil engineering projects.

Dr. Jason Shingleton, Marketing and Development Director of Polypipe Civils commented:

“We’re delighted to have received approval for the Ridgistorm-XL system. As the leading manufacturer for plastic below ground drainage and water management products, we feel it’s vital that our products carry independent certification wherever appropriate. The testing criteria for WRc approval is stringent and each element of the Ridgistorm-XL design, manufacture and jointing system was examined. We believe that achieving WRc approval will give our customers more confidence when specifying the Ridgistorm-XL system to meet their project requirements.”
