Polypipe Civils Announces Changes to its Ridgidrain and Ridgisewer Product Ranges

Posted: Tuesday 23rd February 2010

Polypipe Civils, the UK’s leading manufacturer of plastic below-ground drainage, sewer, cable protection and water management products, has announced a change to its structured-wall Ridgidrain and Ridgisewer pipe products. As part of the business’s continued commitment to ongoing manufacturing improvements, the production of surface water and sewer pipes in diameters 750 and 900mm will be transferred to the new Ridgistorm-XL manufacturing line.

From 1st January 2010 any 750 or 900mm diameter pipes and fittings delivered to site will be the new Ridgistorm-XL system.

Ridgistorm-XL is the most advanced large diameter pipe system available in the UK. It offers a number of unique benefits by using the latest design and manufacturing technology it is possible to design bespoke pipe profiles and individual stiffness classes ensuring that pipes and fittings can be manufactured to meet the specific ground conditions and requirements of a project. The Ridgistorm-XL system also offers both patented electro-fusion jointing and SBR push-fit seals which provide exceptional pipeline integrity and leak tightness, plus speedier and safer installation on-site.

Ridgistorm-XL is suitable for use in surface water drainage schemes for commercial, residential and infrastructure applications. The system can also be used for sewer applications, where approval should be sought from the adopting authority on a project-by-project basis, as is currently the case with 750 and 900mm Ridgisewer products. Both 750mm and 900mm Ridgistorm-XL pipes and fittings have been assessed by the BBA and will carry third party accreditation reassurance. The product range is also certified by the Water Research Centre (WRc) which covers stiffness classes from SN2 to SN8.

Dr. Jason Shingleton, Marketing and Development Director for Polypipe Civils explains the changes to the Ridgidrain and Ridgisewer product ranges:

“We recognised some time ago the importance of investing in our manufacturing and production capabilities in order to offer the market the very best drainage and sewer products. This programme of investment has now instigated a change in our Ridgidrain and Ridgisewer product ranges that we believe will provide better long-term solutions for our customers. The capabilities of our Ridgistorm-XL system are unrivalled in the UK and the benefits of the product for surface water drainage projects can now be brought to sewer schemes.”
