New Saint-Gobain PAM brochure introduces its feature-packed Classical range of cast iron rainwater and gutter systems

Posted: Friday 9th October 2009

Leading supplier of cast iron rainwater and gutter systems, Saint-Gobain PAM UK, has launched a new brochure featuring its comprehensive Classical range of rainwater pipes and guttering systems designed and developed using the very latest pipe manufacturing technology.

The Classical range of traditional rainwater and gutter systems is designed in accordance with BS 460. The company is the only cast iron manufacturer to achieve British Board of Agrément third party Accreditation for its standard range of half round gutter systems and round downpipe systems within the Classical range. It also manufactures under BS EN ISO 90001-2000 Quality Management Systems.

Cast iron gutters and downpipes have been manufactured at Saint-Gobain’s Telford site for over 100 years, servicing the housing and construction markets, and are recognised for their aesthetic charm. The range incorporates all the proven benefits of cast iron over other materials like plastic, giving the Classical range the strength to withstand high winds, heavy snow, and vandalism. It also possesses the acoustic properties of cast iron and has a long life which can exceed 100 years. Cast iron is one of the most sustainable materials as the manufacturing process uses 97% recycled material and the product is, in turn, 100% recyclable.

The manufacturing technology used to produce circular Classical rainwater downpipes centrifugally spins the pipe ensuring consistent section dimensions. This is unlike that of pipes produced by the traditional sand cast method, which is prone to produce pipe with 'thick' and 'thin' spots making the pipe inherently weaker.

The standard Classical range is supplied with a water based primer coat ready for on-site painting to match any colour scheme. Alternatively, the rainwater and gutter system can be supplied with the finished "Classical Plus" coating ready for immediate installation. Classical Plus is available in black as standard from stock but is now available in six new colours made to order.

Classical Express is a true half round gutter profile with increased flow rates and is connected using unique jointing clips that can be easily installed in any weather. Express is available with either the water based primer coat or the “Classical Plus” finish.

The Classical range offers eight gutter profiles: four half round profiles – Half Round, Deep Round, Beaded Half Round, and the Classical EXPRESS True Half Round profile, three decorative profiles Ogee, Notts, Ogee and Moulded No 46 and the square profile Box gutter. There are also two rainwater downpipe systems available – Round or rectangular. All options come with an extensive range of associated fittings to suit any building, whatever the architectural style.

The Classical range now includes a rainwater diverter in cast iron, enabling homeowners to utilise natural resources effectively, and save money on their water bills.
