KERAFLO KAX FLOAT VALVE NOW AVAILABLE IN AN EXTENDED RANGE OF SIZES

Posted: Thursday 12th June 2008

The ‘Aylesbury’ KAX Type float valve is the latest addition to the Keraflo ‘extended drop’ range designed for installation in water storage tanks with raised valve chambers. As part of a recent range rationalisation exercise, the KAX valve is now available in two additional sizes ¾” (20mm) and 1” (25mm). These complement the existing four models from 1¼” to 2” (32mm to 50mm). All valves have a non-adjustable operating differential between opening and closing of 75mm and the larger sizes are particularly suitable for Type AA and AB air gaps, where valves larger than 1” are required.

The delayed action of the ‘Aylesbury’ KAX valve ensures it remains fully open until upward water pressure on the key-shaped float causes it to close in a single action. This revolutionary shaped, puncture-proof float is manufactured from CFC-free polyethylene closed cell foam making it suitable for a wide range of demanding applications. All ‘Aylesbury’ valves feature rotating ceramic discs

incorporating ports which align to allow water flow. As there are no seats or washers to wear out they are virtually indestructible and completely maintenance free.

The unique combined action of the valve eliminates water dribble, water hammer and valve bounce as well as pump hunting in pumped systems. Water is delivered via an ‘up and over’ discharge pipe in accordance with BS 1212 Part 2 which helps to facilitate air gap compliance and provides back siphonage protection. In addition, the action of the Keraflo ‘Aylesbury’ valve range can significantly assist in reducing stagnation and stratification in water storage tanks, thereby reducing the risks associated with Legionella.

Following these additions to the KAX range the KA range is now discontinued, which greatly simplifies distributor stock profiles. In addition to the KAX range of valves, Keraflo Ltd. also manufactures ‘Aylesbury’ K Type valves for in-tank installation with seven sizes from ½” to 2” (15mm to 50mm) and Type KB which offers a fully variable operating differential between opening and closing water level settings in nine sizes from ¾” to 3” (20mm to 80mm).

Keraflo also supplies the KP Type float valve kit comprising an in-line control valve together with an Aylesbury ‘KB’ Type Valve acting as a pilot. This package is ideal for use in larger installations and for fire sprinkler systems. All Keraflo valves are WRAS approved.
