Plasson UK, leading manufacturer of first class fittings for polyethylene pipe systems has again extended its comprehensive product portfolio. Plasson UK has been serving the water, building, plumbing, construction and agricultural industries for over 20 years with a range of highly reliable fittings.

Plasson are introducing the Arctic Ice Resistant Valves to meet demand in the market place for a valve that is able to cope with extreme cold temperatures for outside water systems.

Problem ~ Solution ~ Benefits:

When there is water in a valve and the temperature drops below 0°C the water turns to ice thus causing an increase in volume. This increase creates a pressure that can break traditional valves.

The Arctic Ice Resistant valve has been specially designed with an elastic body that is able to absorb the increase in volume caused by icing and then returns to its original geometric and sealing characteristics the moment the temperature rises.

This means a greater life cycle so no more buying replacement valves, no re-installation costs and no more unhappy customers!

Features of Arctic valves:

o Resistant to damage caused by ice forming inside the fitting, this is due to its polypropylene copolymer body

o Available in both ball valve and bib tap

o Ball valve is PN16

o Black in colour to resist UV rays without oxidising

o Both types of valve connect via BSP thread

o Sizes available; ½” ¾” and 1”

The Ice Test:

During the test a closed valve with water inside is left for many hours at -20°C and then warmed to 23°C. This is repeated for several cycles to simulate consecutive nights in a winter freeze. After each cycle the valve is checked for correct functioning by testing the seal (water pressure). These tests are carried out on all sizes of the Arctic Ice Valve series.

The Arctic Ice Valve can be found online at Plasson.co.uk along all Plasson products, from their range of Mechanical Fittings & Valves, PlassOne Simply Push to Fit and SmartFuse ElectroFusion fittings.
