Ant Hire, Ltd. Becomes Authorized Dealer for Electro Scan Products in the United Kingdom

Posted: Friday 18th January 2013

Leading Distributor of CCTV Cameras, Robotic Cutters and Services to Market Sewer Leak Detection Technology to UK-based Water Companies and Contractors.

Electro Scan Inc. has announced that Ant Hire, Ltd., based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, has become an International Authorized Dealer of its proprietary line of sewer leak detection and pipeline rehabilitation certification technology. Ant Hire, Ltd. will represent Electro Scan product line on an exclusive basis throughout England, Scotland, Wales, and the Isle of Man

“We are delighted to welcome Adrian Thompson, Managing Director, and the entire Ant Hire Ltd. team to our growing list of international dealers,” stated Chuck Hansen, Electro Scan’s Chief Executive Officer. “Their expertise in providing specialty equipment to civil engineering and drain services contractors, and their commitment to research and development that has produced a number of innovative new products and services, were key factors in our decision to pursue Ant Hire.”

Electro Scan represents the next generation in sewer leak detection. In contrast to other methods that rely on visual inspection and coding standards, Electro Scan’s patent-pending technology automatically finds leaks in sewer and stormwater pipes by measuring the variation of electricity passing through defects like cracks, broken joints, and defective service connections. Data is transmitted to smartphone and laptop computer applications and transmitted to the Company’s cloud application, Critical SewersTM.

In November 2012, Electro Scan performed its first UK-based demonstration in Topsham, in association with Pell Frischmann, consulting engineers. Located on the River Exe and designated as a town by royal charter in the year 1300, the Topsham Demonstration was attended by a number of invited water industry stakeholders, including South West Water, Wessex Water, AECOM, Hyder Consulting, Upstream Pipeline Services, SDI-Unistride, Exjet, OnSite, and Ant Hire Ltd.

“We are delighted to bring Electro Scan to the UK,” stated Adrian Thompson, Ant Hire’s Managing Director. “The introduction of Electro Scan is occurring at an opportune time as the water sector begins to prepare Business Plans, due at the end of 2013, for the next Asset Management Plan period (AMP 6 – 2015-2020).”

“Electro Scan immediately helps water companies,” continues Adrian Thompson, “meet a number of performance goals in the (current) AMP5 period. In particular, helping to achieve Capex and Opex reductions by certifying pipe rehabilitation projects, assisting water companies to become frontier performers, and helping ‘getting it right the first time, every time’ by accurately diagnosing pipe conditions, especially leaks, commonly missed by traditional CCTV surveys.”

The Electro Scan technology assesses all non-conductive (i.e. non-metallic) pipes, including asbestos cement, brick, clay, concrete, mortar, plastic, reinforced concrete, and resin-based liners and identifies all cracks, fractures, defective joints, and faulty service connection to within one centimeter and calculated the estimated gallons or liters per minute of leakage.
