Yorkshire Water Services select Landia for anoxic mixers
Posted: Monday 12th March 2007
After an intensive tendering process, Yorkshire Water Services has chosen Landia to provide purpose-built Anoxic/Selector tank mixers for a 5-year, Single Source Supply Framework Agreement, worth circa £1.5M.
Based on its enviable track record for reliable equipment, which has enabled the mixer and pump manufacturer to accurately predict whole life costs, Landia will supply, install, test, commission and assist in the maintenance of its submersible POP-I flowmaker mixers at sites throughout the Yorkshire Water Services region.
The framework was secured in part by the inclusion of a low maintenance sealing system for the mixers, which has been specially adapted by Landia to meet Yorkshire Water Services’ requirements.
Jeff Holmes, Treatment Optimisation Manager at Yorkshire Water Services, commented: “We were impressed with Landia’s openness and ‘no compromise’ approach. They have a high level of experience and technical expertise, which we can call on to provide optimum solutions, based on whole life costs, which is what we are looking for in a framework partner”.
Hugh Vaughan, UK & Eire Director of Landia, added: ”This framework shows Yorkshire Water Services setting an exemplary industry standard by embracing the benefits of true life cycle costs, backed by genuine, long-term guarantees. We are totally committed to a smooth and efficient framework that provides first class products and service, at the right cost”.
Landia’s POP-1 mixers, which will all be supplied to Yorkshire Water Services with stainless steel mounting equipment, were the UK’s first ever flowmakers to have a propeller rotation of 150rpm. With their slow revolutions and low floc shear, these Landia mixers are designed for the gentle treatment of activated sludge in continuous applications where sedimentation in anoxic or anaerobic tanks must be prevented. Product training for Yorkshire Water Services’ personnel will also be provided by Landia.
