An independent fuels and lubricants distributor in the South has been awarded a fuel sales agreement with Thames Water and Thames Water Services.

WP Industrial, a trading division of the £160m turnover WP Group, will supply more than 140 sites for the utility.

Operating from Esso’s West London terminal, WP Industrial is to provide the utility with fuel for a variety of energy demands, from diesel engine vehicles and heavy plant to equipment and generators.

WP Industrial will be providing Thames Water with new-specification Gas Oil (Red Diesel 10ppm) and Ultra Low Sulphur Gas Oil (ULSD).

Rod Coyle, Assistant Contracts Manager (Thames Water), said: “We were impressed by WP Group’s attention to gaining an in-depth knowledge of our business in order to provide solutions and assistance to help the business cope with ever-changing legislative requirements for the use of fuel within our industry.”

Darren Borras, Group Commercial Manager at the WP Group, headquartered at Fawley Refinery, near Southampton, said: “We have been selected for our differentiated approach, and our team will work with Thames Water as a knowledge partner to provide on-going fuel and service solutions throughout their business.

“Our specialists can assist with extras such as lowering fuel use and emissions reduction. Emphasis is firmly placed on quality, innovation, service and performance, as well as delivery.”

It is the second large contract win within a month for WP – its marine division was awarded a contract with Premier Marinas for marinas at Swanwick, Southsea, Gosport, Port Solent and Chichester.
