Waterwise Technology has secured the water treatment contract for the Shard at London Bridge, which will be the tallest tower in the UK and Western Europe.

The Shard, due to be completed in advance of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, is designed as a ‘vertical city’ that includes 586,509 sq ft (54,488 sq m) of world class office space, an exclusive collection of residential apartments which will be the highest in the UK, 5-star Shangri-La Hotel with spa and pool and restaurants and viewing galleries offering unprecedented 360 º views of London. Located adjacent to London Bridge Station and developed by Sellar Group with Mace the principal contractor, the Shard will measure 310 metres in height and, as the name suggests, resembles a shard of glass.

Waterwise Technology has been appointed to supply all of the water treatment equipment for the building, which includes: water softening equipment, water treatment equipment and sidestream filtration for the cooling towers. Waterwise Technology will also supply three large water purifiers that will provide distilled quality water for the cleaning of the building façade, preventing any water marks that would otherwise occur.

Jon Fielder, Managing Director at Waterwise Technology comments: “We’re thrilled to be involved in such an iconic development as the Shard and to have our products and services recognised by such a world class developer.”
