Posted: Tuesday 27th January 2015

Ww could all soon be charging our iPhones, tablets even car batteries with tap water within a few years.

A Japanese company has invented a new type of rechargeable battery that can be charged by topping it up with water.

Old batteries are huge air polluters, and so development firm Fuji Pigment have produced a new device that is renewable and clean.

Water supplier United Utilities admitted: ‘We’ve never heard of tap water being used like this before.’
