The Royal Highland Centre Extends Water Deal

Posted: Tuesday 2nd May 2017

The Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS) has agreed a new three year contract with Business Stream to supply water and wastewater services to its event venue, the Royal Highland Centre near Edinburgh International Airport.

A customer of Business Stream's since market opening in 2008, RHASS has signed up to a new deal that also includes temporary water supply to meet increased demand during the Royal Highland Show - the largest agricultural show in Europe - as well as a potential water pumping station.

The news comes as Business Stream prepares for the opening of the £2.5bn English water market in April, which will enable 1.2 million businesses and public bodies in England to choose their water supplier for the first time.

Since 1784, the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS) has been the respected standard-bearer for farming and rural industry in Scotland. In recent years RHASS has significantly invested in the Royal Highland Centre, which attracts in excess of 1 million visitors each year to events as diverse as the Royal Highland Show and concerts such as the forthcoming sold out Little Mix show.

Jo Dow, CEO at Business Stream said: "We're extremely pleased to be extending our relationship with the Society, an organisation at the forefront of the Scottish farming and rural communities. In recent years competition has created keener pricing across all sectors, but it has also encouraged suppliers to innovate and stand out from the crowd. We're delighted that the Society has continued its partnership with us and we're confident that we can deliver diverse water solutions to meet their needs across the expansive Ingliston site."

Scotland's non-domestic market, which covers all premises across private and public sector organisations, opened to competition in April 2008. Since then Business Stream customers have saved more than £160 million on their water bills.
