Growing business demands second base as UK turns to freshly filtered tap water.

Manufacturer of mains-fed water machines,Tana Water (UK) Ltd., has opened a new office on the Isle of Wight and increased its staff by 50 per cent to support its growing business. The Newport office will enable the NHS PASA-approved manufacturer to provide national sales and regional service support to hospitals, schools, hotels and businesses.

Tana Water machines take water directly from the mains and improve the taste by filtering out chlorine, limescale and rust. As an added health precaution, Tana Water machines also use ultraviolet light to kill water-borne organisms such as cryptosporidium and C-difficile. The machines use biodegradable carbon filters and recyclable components and have an automatic power saving mode that reduces energy consumption by 40 per cent.

Tana Water UK was recently selected as an approved supplier of mains-fed water machines to the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency (PASA). “Water For Health Hydration Best Practice Toolkit for Hospitals and Healthcare,” produced by the Royal College of Nursing and the NHS National Patient Safety Agency, advises that while bottle-fed water coolers can cost healthcare providers around £6 for each 19 litre bottle, amounting to approximately £1,000 a year for each machine, mains-fed coolers cost less than 2p for every 19 litres.

All Tana Water machines are sold with a mandatory service contract to ensure regular and safe maintenance of the carbon and ultraviolet filters. Explaining the siting of the new office, Nick Heane, Managing Director, Tana Water UK said:

“We wanted to tap into the pool of talent that is in this area and support our customer base with a local office. Tana is the only water machine manufacturer in the UK that carries out its own service and maintenance using engineers approved by the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme. Having a base on the Isle of Wight will help us to reduce our carbon emissions from journeys to customers, as well as providing a lovely working environment for our staff.”

Isle of Wight MP, Andrew Turner, who officiated at the office opening said, “I am delighted that Tana Water has recognised what so many other companies already know – that on the Island we have a talented and loyal workforce that can contribute to company growth. I wish Tana Water every success with its plans for expansion.”
