South West based SebaKMT lay foundations for growth
Specialist equipment distributor, SebaKMT, has set up new offices in Calne, Wiltshire, on the back of a series of major deals with UK utility companies and consistent success. European money and UK entrepreneurial spirit has seen SebaKMT double in size year on year, since it was established in 2002, to its current turnover of £2M.
It is one of the south west’s best kept secrets, forming a niche in UK specialist tool sector, working hard to help builders, local authorities and utility companies keep pace with the demand for better services and an improved infrastructure for the water and power industry with its range of hi-tech professional equipment. Its expertise is in the location of leaks, faults in power lines and surveying ground to ensure that construction work does cut across vital services and power cables. SebaKMT’s core market is the water industry, power generation companies and contractors and small builders. Clients include United Utilities, Scottish Water, Severn Trent, Central Networks and numerous major contractors.
The operation is part owned by the managing director, Mike Napper, who lives in Clevedon and has over twenty years of experience in the cable avoidance and fault location sector. He said: “Environmental and economic pressure on water companies to minimise leaks, health and safety regulations and a drive for operational efficiency means there is strong demand for our products and services. With a strong sales pipeline and backed by innovative products we are well set to reach a £7M turnover by 2011.”
SebaKMT supplies surveying and lighting equipment, plus specialist cutting tools to complement its location and fault finding products. The new offices will feature a trade counter so that south-west trades’ people can benefit from the technology, work quickly, accurately and safely.
“The trade desk is an important step for us. Our services are just as useful to the smaller tradesman as they are to major utilities and contractors. Now builders, plumbers and specialist contractors can visit us, try the kit and learn about our services,” explains Mike.
Mike’s team has developed a range of key contacts in the industry. They are backed up by the investment and technical expertise of the German based SebaKMT parent group. Mike Napper has been working in partnership with them for over five years.
“The investment and support from the SebaKMT team has been tremendous and as a result we have seen huge interest in the technical expertise we offer as well a consistent increase in sales year on year. The UK market place is a major growth target for SebaKMT and it is fantastic to be in partnership with a dynamic, ambitious company that has such faith in the UK construction and regulated industries,” said Mike.
