Severn Trent Water announces Engineering Consultancy Framework

A joint venture between international advisory and design consultancies Hyder Consulting and Faber Maunsell | AECOM has been appointed by Severn Trent Water to advise on its five-year £2.9 billion capital investment programme starting in 2010 (AMP5).
Faber Maunsell | AECOM, Hyder project teams will work as an integral part of Severn Trent Water’s Asset Delivery Group to undertake feasibility studies and develop design solutions for key projects including water supply, sewerage and treatment plants.
Since the appointment, Faber Maunsell | AECOM, Hyder has already been asked to undertake feasibility studies for a range of projects including major water supply improvements in the West Midlands and improving water supplies to isolated communities.
Faber Maunsell | AECOM, Hyder is also working with teams at Severn Trent Water to design sewerage schemes and to assist in reviewing flood prevention methods.
Darren Smith, Faber Maunsell | AECOM, Hyder’s Services Manager for the framework, said: “To address problems relating to water and wastewater infrastructure, seeing the bigger picture is vital. It is important to consider all elements of the water cycle strategically and to understand how the challenges are interlinked. To solve these challenges I am able to draw on experience from across our global team and this will allow us to advise Severn Trent on shaping a robust capital investment programme.”
