Severn Trent Services take over effluent plant at The Lake District Creamery

Posted: Wednesday 24th November 2010

Water and wastewater treatment expert Severn Trent Services has taken over the operation and maintenance of the effluent treatment plant at First Milk’s Lake District Creamery.

Severn Trent Services (STS) had upgraded the plant prior to the transfer of operational management. The changes, which included updating the pH correction system, bulk chemical storage and a new high rate biological filter, will deliver ongoing savings by improving the day-to-day operations of the plant.

Paul Rowe, who has overall responsibility for all of First Milk’s manufacturing sites, commented: “STS are industry specialists and as existing First Milk suppliers, we were delighted to let them focus on their area of expertise.”

“This move enables our team at The Lake District Creamery to concentrate on creating award-winning Cheddar and becoming one of the top three brands in the UK.”

Operations and maintenance of water and wastewater assets are a core competence for STS, a global group managing in excess of 1,000 assets in the UK alone.
