Selwood has already placed orders this year for £7m of plant and pumps to enhance its already sizeable hire fleet. The order includes equipment throughout its fleet with £1.4m spent with Ammann on mini excavators, breakers and rollers. Large orders have also been placed with Thwaites for dumpers and Hyundai for larger excavators.

Included in this is an order of £3m for its own pumps as well as electric submersible pumps. The majority of the Selwood pumps ordered are from the super silent range that is the quietest and most environmentally friendly available on the market today.

Selwood’s existing manufacturing facility near Southampton has benefited from an improvement programme designed to increase efficiency and capacity. Smart procurement and greater stock holding will allow for standard products to benefit from shorter lead times which are increasingly required in this modern, fast moving marketplace.

In commenting on this investment, Sales Director Richard Brown said. “Although for us this is a large investment in a short space of time, it is important that we continue to increase and update our fleet to meet customer expectations. 2011 has begun well for us and this investment in our fleet is essential for us to maintain growth.”
