ITT Water & Wastewater, the leading solutions provider within the water and wastewater treatment market, has played a key role in supporting the replacement of storm screening processes at a major pumping station in Scotland.

Scottish Water had contracted civil, mechanical and electrical engineering specialist company Byzak to undertake the four-week project at the Bruce Embankment pumping station in St Andrew’s, known worldwide as the home of golf.

The project required the creation of temporary overpumping facilities in an adjacent car park, and this was where ITT’s Flygt Rental came into its own.

The Flygt Rental team surveyed the site and then developed a complete proposal encompassing all installation work, servicing and monitoring over the four-week period.

The proposal, accepted in its entirety by Byzak, included delivery, installation and removal of three 6” diesel pumps, 6” wire armoured hoses and fittings, a 2000 litre bunded fuel tank, and fuel management services.

The result provided a vastly improved wastewater process to local people, went entirely to plan and on schedule, with minimum disruption. Byzak was delighted with the contribution and commitment of the ITT Water & Wastewater team.

Bruce McKelvie of Byzak commented: “Our client, Scottish Water, was delighted with how the project ran, which was helped in no small part by the efficiency of the temporary overpumping solution developed and managed by ITT Water & Wastewater.

“We will have no hesitation in recommending ITT Water & Wastewater for any future pumping solutions, as the service they provided was first class.”

Colin Rae of ITT Water & Wastewater added: “Due to St Andrew’s being so well known in the golfing world, all eyes were on this project, including the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, and the fact that it went so smoothly is a tribute to our dedicated team and the close working relationship we quickly developed with Byzak. It’s another example of how we can provide short-term, flexible and efficient pumping solutions to contractors in the wastewater sector.”
