SBWWI continues to flourish

Posted: Friday 30th May 2014

Maintaining a healthy membership base and greater participation by members in SBWWI (Society of British Water and Wastewater Industries) events has meant that annual subscriptions remained at the same level as 2013. This was the headline news from the SBWWI AGM held on 26 March at the Episode Hotel, Leamington Spa.

2014 sees a change in Society Chairman, with Martyn Hopkinson, MH20, returning to the role after two and a half years, and David Smoker, ACO Technologies, taking up the mantle of Immediate Past Chairman. Colin Waugh, Clancy Docwra, remains as Vice-Chairman and Tony Griffiths, WRc, was elected as Society Treasurer.

Hopkinson stated that the focus for 2014, would be on developing stronger relationships with water companies, Water UK, EU Skills and other water industry organisations to promote members’ products and services and to highlight the innovations that are available from its members. Hopkinson further stated that ‘Innovating for the Future’ would be published shortly and launched at the WRc Innovation Day taking place on 30 April. The document follows previous publications on ‘Supplying’, ‘Procuring’ and ‘Skills’ for the Future.

SBWWI is the trade association for the water industry supply chain and provides representation for contractors, manufacturers, distributors, consultants and training providers, primarily supplying goods and services into the UK Water and Wastewater industry.
