Polypipe WMS receives Scottish Water acceptance for Ridgistorm-XL

Polypipe Water Management Solutions (WMS) has, following an extensive product assessment, received acceptance from Scottish Water for its Ridgistorm-XL large diameter pipe system for use on new developments.

The Scottish Water certification is the tenth acceptance to be granted by a water authority for the Ridgistorm-XL system and is based on the previously awarded WRc approval. It, like the WRc approval, incorporates all pipe profile options, stiffness classes up to SN8 and diameters from 750 to 2100mm. Ridgistorm-XL’s unique and patented electro-fusion jointing method is also covered by the approval scheme.

Scottish Water acceptance allows for components of the Ridgistorm-XL system to be adopted under Section 16 of the Sewerage (Scotland) Act 1968.

Dr. Jason Shingleton, Marketing and Development Director at Polypipe Civils, explained the importance of independent testing: “As the UK’s leading manufacturer of plastic drainage solutions, we pride ourselves on investing heavily in product development and our production processes.

“Third party endorsement ensures customers have that extra bit of confidence in our offering, and are assured that not only do we strive to bring leading-edge innovative solutions to the market, but that this is backed by independent testing.”

Ridgistorm-XL is ideally suited to large-scale pipeline, soakaway and attenuation projects within the civil engineering and construction industries and due to the light weight nature of plastic pipes, Ridgistorm-XL is safer, quicker and easier to handle and install than traditional materials.
