MWH Constructors win health and safety award
MWH Constructors has been awarded the \'Most Improved Contractor in Health and Safety\' award from Northumbrian Water.
The award was presented at Northumbrian Water's Framework Health & Safety Forum and was based on independent third party assessments of health and safety management systems, construction site safety and the accident and near miss reporting behaviours of 16 framework contractors.
The Sunderland office had zero lost time accidents and staff were found to be vigilant in reporting near misses and carrying out 'toolbox talks' to improve health and safety performance.
Kimberley Naisbit, Northumbrian Water's Health and Safety Manager said: "The management of construction health and safety by our framework contractors is very important and the Contractor Health and Safety Awards is our way of encouraging and recognising excellent health and safety performance."
MWH is currently half way through a six year framework contract with Northumbrian Water to refurbish and replace water pumping stations across the North East, with projects varying from £60,000 to £1 million.
MWH Constructors Business Manager Colin Nichol said: "Northumbrian Water places a high value on health and safety and this is a very significant award which will further enhance our standing and competitiveness in the region."
