MWH appoints head of Wastewater Networks Business in the UK
MWH has appointed Steve Kenney to the newly created role of Wastewater Networks Business Area Manager.
Steve’s previous role was as a Technical Manager working on United Utilities wastewater networks programme. As the Business Area Manager for Wastewater Networks he will be based at MWH’s Engineering Service Centre in Warrington, near Manchester, which covers MWH operations in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and India (EMEAI).
“This is a fantastic challenge and I see my role as building on our success. We have one of the largest network modelling groups in the UK and we need to build that team for future challenges such as AMP5 and the Water Framework Directive. I plan to use my experience to benefit MWH’s wastewater networks business across the UK”, said Steve.
A key aim of this new role is to grow the business area through long-term staff development and by growing the UK team – through internal development and by external recruitment.
“We are constantly on the lookout for engineers and trying to recruit experience into the organisation, but as we all know there is huge skills shortage in our industry so it is vital that we grow people internally as well as looking outside”, said Steve.
He will also co-ordinate the continued development of MWH tools and methodologies that have helped grow its business in the past, and provide a focal point for MWH clients to capture best practice across the whole of the UK.
Steve will report to Gary Sanderson, MWH EMEAI Director of Knowledge and Technical Services.
Steve has 17 years’ experience in engineering, 12 of those with MWH, specialising in waste water. He joined the company from university, rising through the graduate training programme.
As well as working in four of MWH’s UK offices, Steve has also worked at MWH’s operations in Pune, India, and in New Zealand.
