Morgan Sindall has been awarded a £700,000 contract to install and commission two new water mains for South East Water.

The new twin mains are 600 millimetres and 180 millimetres in diameter and will be installed in the Wannock Road area of Polegate, East Sussex to replace the existing 24” and 7” water mains which have burst several times in the past 24 months, causing damage to local properties.

The contract win is in addition to the work which Morgan Sindall has been carrying out over the last three years as part of South East Water’s AMP5 Period Maintenance Contract.

Murray Powell, operations manager at Morgan Sindall, said: “The award of this scheme is in addition to the recent securing of the Furnace Wood project valued at £465,000 and the Kemsing to Oakbank project valued at £250,000. These vital schemes ensure that the region’s water mains networks are up to date and well maintained.”

Work started in October and will be completed in February 2011.
