MICRO DRAINAGE MERGES WITH CARDNO

Micro Drainage of Newbury, developer of the UK’s industry-standard drainage design software suite WinDes®, has merged with Cardno Ltd (CDD), the infrastructure services company based in Brisbane, Australia.
Micro Drainage complements Cardno's long established Australian and US-based water engineering software business, XP Software, which has representation in eight countries. Between them, Micro Drainage and XP Software have sold more than 15,000 software licenses worldwide. Co-founders of Micro Drainage, Aidan and Marian Millerick, will remain with the company and become shareholders of Cardno. Aidan Millerick, Managing Director of the company since its inception in 1983, said that Micro Drainage has become the market leader in its field in the UK and Ireland, with developing markets in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. “Today more than 90 per cent of water engineering consultants and water companies in the UK use our software,“ he said. “In Cardno, we have found an ideal partner to support our future growth and international expansion. “Our clients will also benefit from the union with Cardno and XP Software, as our collective development and client support resources will enable us to accelerate the delivery and scope of innovative, practical and relevant solutions.”“By leveraging XP Software’s extensive international network, Cardno has the ability to market Micro Drainage’s product range worldwide,” said Mr Andrew Buckley, Managing Director of Cardno. “We can also offer existing XP Software customers a complementary and in-demand product suite.“The products offered by XP Software and Micro Drainage are all designed to help engineers to plan and design better water management solutions for our communities,” he added. “This merger creates a true holistic design, analysis and modelling capability for the world’s civil engineers.” The Micro Drainage product range has always had strong support from UK regulatory authorities. It is compatible with all standard engineering platforms, such as Autodesk, Bentley, PDS, and 12D and is used by civil engineers in government agencies, private consultancies and academic institutions. WinDes® allows users to simulate the environmental impact of extreme rainfall, climate change and urban development, facilitating the design of the most sustainable and cost-effective stormwater and wastewater solutions.
