Posted: Monday 22nd November 2010

Metoc, a leading UK environmental engineering consultancy, has been contracted by Yorkshire Water, to provide high-end modelling and environmental assessment services for AMP5.

With a vision to be clearly the best water company in the UK, for seven years running Yorkshire Water has achieved Platinum status in Business in the Community’s National Environment Index. Metoc is helping Yorkshire Water to achieve this vision and deliver targeted and effective investment programmes, which provide high value and better environmental management. Metoc is already engaged on coastal and river programmes.

Metoc is delivering one of the largest and most comprehensive Bathing Waters investigation programmes the UK has seen. The end result will be better Yorkshire bathing beaches, assisted by Yorkshire Water’s commitment to help the Environment Agency deliver ‘Excellent Standard’ Bathing Waters – the highest grade under the Bathing Waters Directive.

Metoc is investigating water quality issues in rivers, reservoirs and lakes with a view to optimising asset performance to meet water quality standards.

Commenting on the award, Metoc’s Director, Chris Mooij, says “We are pleased to have the opportunity to work on this progressive and challenging AMP5 programme. Yorkshire Water has recognised the innovation and vision that has gone into our systems, software and service delivery and is excited by the value this relationship will bring.”

Similar Framework Agreements for Metoc are already in place with Scottish Water and Anglian Water.
