EARTH Tech Morrison is celebrating after completing the first phase of a £250 million investment by Yorkshire Water throughout the region, a £4 million investment programme at Yorkshire Water's Lemonroyd Waste Water Treatment Works.

This project is part of the £250 million Riverlife campaign funded by Yorkshire Water throughout the region, to improve the quality of local rivers and boost the diversity of river wildlife.

Lemonroyd Waste Water Treatment Works treats the waste water of 30,000 customers in Rothwell and Woodlesford in Leeds. This project serves to enhance the water quality of the River Aire and is the first of twenty five sites to be commissioned in Yorkshire.

Colin Challen, MP for Morley and Rothwell, recently opened the works where guests and members of the public were told details about the investment work and also toured the site.

Gareth Howell, project engineer at Earth Tech Morrison, said: "The Lemonroyd site provides improved environmental benefits and improved levels of treatment for waste water and the resulting sludge. Advanced control and automation of the plant will also lead to significant improvements in the operation of the site.

Colin Challen, MP for Morley and Rothwell, said: "This work is essential for the whole development for the river valley and will benefit nature, visitors and will make the community a cleaner place to live."
