GRONTMIJ ACQUIRES LEADING UK CONTRACT CONSULTANCY TRETT CONSULTING
Market leading engineering firm makes new acquisition to provide specialist dispute resolution services.
European engineering consultancy Grontmij has announced the acquisition of leading commercial and contract consultancy, Trett. This acquisition announcement – the second this year from Grontmij - strengthens the company’s core capabilities of building services and civil engineering with best-in-class expertise in dispute resolution and commercial and contractual advice.
Headquartered in London and with 18 offices across the UK, mainland Europe, the Middle East, the Asia Pacific region and the USA, Trett Consulting brings an additional 120 professionals to Grontmij’s 1,070 UK and Ireland employees.
The addition of Trett’s 31 year heritage in commercial and contract consultancy services expands Grontmij’s services portfolio to include advice and analysis on contractual claims, adjudication services, investigation of issues, dispute resolution, project planning support, pre and post contract advice, quantity surveying and insolvency and liquidation support.
Trett’s services are required by a variety of customers, from contractors and developers, to solicitors, accountants, financial institutions, manufacturers and insurers.
The firm’s consultancy services span clients across the construction and engineering industries, including building, civil, mechanical, electrical, marine, structural, nuclear and production engineering companies. In 2007/8, its 30th year of trading, the company achieved turnover growth of 20% up to £15.8m.
David Sadler, finance director, Grontmij UK & Ireland, comments: “Dispute resolution and dispute avoidance is an area of business we have been investigating for some time, so we’re delighted to bring Trett Consulting on board.”
Lawrence Hughes, managing director, Grontmij UK & Ireland added: ‘Grontmij’s organic growth over the past few years has been remarkable and the acquisition of Trett Consulting will bolster that growth by increasing the suite of services we bring to market and provide opportunities to cross sell to our respective client rosters in the UK and abroad.“
Roger Trett, executive chairman, Trett Consulting, said: “We already have a strong, established business in our specialist niche and joining forces with Grontmij will enable us to push the business into new areas faster than would otherwise be achievable. Our market area requires expert knowledge that is rarely found in larger organisations so we are confident that we can help Grontmij to deliver an integrated offering that surpasses much, if not all, of the competition.”
Trett Consulting will continue to operate under its existing brand name.
