GE Technology Helps Chinese Manufacturer Conserve Water, Cut Costs to Meet Key Environmental Goals

GE’s First Ultra Pure Water System in Mainland China, Project Receives ecomagination Award.
GE Water has presented a GE ecomagination Leadership Award to SVA-FujiFilm Opto-Electronic Materials Co. Ltd. of China for its efforts in water conversation and cost savings.
GE technology helped SVA-FujiFilm reduce tap water consumption, waste water discharge and operational costs. A customized water treatment system at the company’s Shanghai site has been operating since September 2008 and has achieved both high water quality and raw water saving—up to 15%-25% less water consumption compared to conventional solutions.
The ultra pure water system has a capacity of 180M3/hr and is the first installation of its kind for GE in mainland China. It employs GE’s licensed high efficiency reverse osmosis (HERO™) filtering technology.
Ecomagination is GE’s corporate-wide sustainable business strategy to address challenges such as the need for cleaner, more efficient sources of energy, reduced emissions and abundance sources of clean water. The GE ecomagination Leadership Award is given to the top one percentile of GE Water's customers who demonstrate significant environmental and economical performance improvements, striking a balance between today’s environmental, industrial and sustainability challenges.
“SVA-FujiFilm’s immense desire to conserve resources and to be environmentally friendly led the company to GE Water’s ultra pure water systems. Likewise, SVA-FujiFilm’s implementation of its ideals won it the GE ecomagination Leadership Award,” said Zhou Weifang, president, GE Water, Greater China.
SVA-FujiFilm is a joint venture between China’s SVA Electron and Japan’s Fuji Film Corporation and provides color filter products for the large-screen thin film transistor liquid crystal display industry.
