Flood of demand creates international post at B & V Water Treatment

Posted: Wednesday 2nd February 2011

One of the UK’s leading water treatment companies has appointed its first ever overseas development manager to help it cope with a deluge of demand for its services.

B & V Water Treatment, which specialises in legionella control, corrosion prevention and all aspects of water and waste water treatment, has appointed microbiologist and geneticist Richard Sinden to help it manage its burgeoning order books and provide a structured focus for the company’s global expansion.

B & V Water Treatment MD Simon Ward explained: “Since our formation in 1977 international business has come knocking on our door, but the order books were becoming so full that we decided to recruit someone with a dedicated international remit to provide a structured, focused way forward as we expand, take on more staff and extend our global reach.”

The company’s recent international success has been recognised for the second year running. It was named Business of the Year in 2010 and International Trader of the Year twelve months previously in the Northamptonshire Business Excellence Awards in 2009.

Recent global successes include enabling a Ukrainian client to expand its business by 400% over two years and seeing its own label division turnover grow by 30% in the past year.

Richard, who spent 15 years at life science ingredients company Lonza working with major global players such as Unilever and Procter and Gamble, will initially focus on the company’s expanding markets in Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

The co-inventor of several patents used in the water and paper treatment industry, he plans to help grow B & V’s multi million pound turnover business by increasing licensing agreements with supply chain partners and expanding the product and application range.

He recently hosted a series of seminars in Istanbul for clients in the Middle East aimed at addressing some of the complex technical issues specific to the petrochemical industry.

Richard explained: “B & V is in the unique position of having an incredible research and development capability, a high level of technical support, production, engineering and end user expertise and capability. B & V is an exceptionally innovative company thanks to its incredible technical expertise, which has enabled it to go global - and its success in this arena has been phenomenal.”
