Environmental Biotech adds another string to its international bow – India

Posted: Friday 20th September 2013

Global product and service provider Environmental Biotech have added a new international arm to their business, by setting up a partnership with EcoWorks Biotech in India.

Headed by Maninee Leila Karnik and Valentine A. Pereira, EcoWorks Biotech will be the sole distributor of Environmental Biotech products in India, and is aiming to launch in September. The launch will be the culmination of nearly six months of careful planning and preparation. Initially the company will operate from Mumbai, Delhi and Goa, with the aim to grow across the country.

The expansion into Asia reflects the growing problem of Fats, Oils and Greases in this area, and the partnership was born from recognising this emerging market for Environmental Biotech’s services and products.

This combined with the Directors’ commitment to the environment has led the company to its current position, and will be the basis for EcoWorks Biotech’s support of Indian legislation towards protecting the environment. At present there are few laws aimed at targeting problems such as Grease control within the Indian catering industry, but this is changing.

EcoWorks Biotech’s Directors feel that there is a firm place in the market for Environmental Biotech products such as GreaseBlast, Urine Free and Flow Fresh, and these will be the first products they make available in India.

GreaseBlast is a permanent and natural bioremediation solution, using non-toxic vegetative micro-organisms to remove grease and clear clogged drains. Urine Free uses bio-enzymatic technology to remove urine odours and stains, whilst Flow Fresh softens and removes uric crystals from urinals and drain lines, therefore preventing blockages, backups and smells.

Environmental Biotech provides products and services for problems relating from drainage and bioremediation to hygiene and refrigeration. The company’s involvement with local authorities, such as Anglian Water, has led to them being an authority on subjects such as Fats, Oils and Greases as well as issues related to odour.

Maninee Leila Karnik, Director of EcoWorks Biotech, says: “It’s great to be in partnership with a global leader in the industry. Retail products to solve grease issues are definitely new in India. We know that legislation and mind set change towards the environment will be slow, but we see more consumers becoming conscious of the products they use. We have the right mix of environment-friendly products to support new laws, as well as help solve the issues of blockages and odours.”

Aziz Tejpar, Managing Director of Environmental Biotech, believes that the opportunity is not one to be missed: “The partnership between Environmental Biotech and EcoWorks Biotech has been a long time in the pipeline. Now is the right time and it is great to finally see it happening. We anticipate fantastic things, and are delighted to add another country to our international network.”
