Enpure staff support Steve Cooper in his bid to run the Marathon for CBIT

Posted: Tuesday 13th March 2007

Steve Cooper an employee of local Kidderminster process engineering company Enpure, who operate in the water, wastewater and waste sectors, will be undertaking the challenge of a lifetime on 22nd April this year – he will be pounding the streets of London for the Marathon. Steve has been running seriously since August last year and this will be his first Marathon. He explains:

“After completing the Land’s End to John O’Groats bike ride over 14 days last summer, I really wanted to set myself a huge challenge for 2007 which involved keeping fit and doing something for charity too – the London Marathon seemed to fit the bill”.

“I will be running for the children’s charity cbit (the Child Brain Injury Trust). My place is a guaranteed (Gold Bond) place and I want to raise a minimum of £1500 – I am about half way there already, but want to hit my target as soon as possible so I can concentrate on training”.

”My association with cbit came about as a result of my niece Becki suffering an acquired brain injury one week before Christmas in 2006. Following some incredibly dark hours, I am pleased to say that Becki has been making a remarkable recovery, culminating in her returning to her old Secondary School in January of this year.”

“My official training plan started on 1st December (the day that I heard I had a place in the race) and involves a 20 mile bike ride once per week, weight training twice per week and running three times a week, increasing the mileage gradually”.

The Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT) is a UK wide charity providing support, information and training on childhood acquired brain injury (ABI). Working in partnership with children, their families, carers, professionals and policy makers, CBIT aims to improve the quality of life for all children with an acquired brain injury.
