Deritend makes splash in water sector with major new contracts

Deritend Industries – one of the UK’s leading industrial maintenance, service and repair groups – has strengthened its presence in the water industry by landing contracts with two of the biggest water companies in the UK.

Severn Trent Water (STW) and United Utilities, which together supply water to over half of England, have not only renewed but extended their contracts with the Midlands-based maintenance specialist – with STW now turning to Deritend for gearbox repair services, and United Utilities adding repair of Archimedes screws to the contract framework.

With their combined coverage exceeding 7,000 hectares, to have secured additional services represents a ‘huge success’ for the company, according to David Hawley, Regional Manager of Deritend.

“The award of these important contract extensions with two flagship utilities companies is testament to the quality of our service provision and the hard work of our teams at Deritend,” he said.

“Water is a key target market for Deritend,” Hawley added, “one in which we are keen to build on our impressive client portfolio in the sector that includes Thames Water, Yorkshire Water and Anglian Water, to name just a few.

“These contracts importantly add to our impressive credentials in the sector and further strengthen our position in a highly competitive marketplace.”

Deritend’s 20-year partnership with Severn Trent originally witnessed the company providing service, repair, overhaul and replacement of electric motors in treatment plants and pumping stations across the Midlands.

The renewal, which will run for two years with the option of a three year extension, will now also include maintenance and replacements for gearboxes across Severn Trent’s network.

The contract with United Utilities will last for five years, with Deritend providing removal, overhaul, repair and reinstatement services for 250 boreholes across the North West. With the extension, Deritend will also provide repair services for Archimedes screws across the contract.
