Consumer Council welcomes new Head of Policy

The Consumer Council for Water has recently welcomed a new Head of Policy and Strategy to its team. Nick Ellins joins the Consumer Council for Water from Water UK, where he worked as Head of Consumer Strategy.

Nick brings over 20 years of experience in the water industry to his new role, and will be responsible for the direction of the Consumer Council for Water’s policy and research development, building on its approach of using consumer’s views and additional research to drive its work.

He will also play a pivotal role in helping to ensure that the Consumer Council for Water continues to represent customers and consumers as robustly as possible.

Prior to his consumer strategy role at Water UK, Nick led the industry’s investor engagement and research strategy through to the last price review, managed the water industry’s public health policy work and national stakeholder alliance, acted as policy adviser for Northern Ireland and Scotland, managed Water UK’s strategic and annual business planning and facilitated the first industry-wide corporate social responsibility report.

Chief Executive of the Consumer Council for Water, Tony Smith said: “Nick has a wide experience of developing and implementing consumer policy in the water industry and a successful track record of working in partnership with Governments, regulators, water companies and our wider stakeholders. I am delighted to welcome him to our team as we increase our work to deliver real benefits to water consumers.”
