Biwater delivers ahead of schedule

Posted: Wednesday 5th March 2008

Biwater Products have successfully delivered the first three of seven PSTs and FSTs to Southern Water’s flagship site at Northfleet.

The waste water treatment works at Northfleet are being extended to cope with a growing population and as part of improvements to local infrastructure in line with Gordon Brown’s pledge to provide more affordable homes in the area. At a cost of £356,000, Biwater Products is responsible for the design, manufacture and installation of the 26m half bridge scrapers.

Tony Gillard, Business Development Manager at Biwater said, ‘This is yet another example of success for Biwater Products and of the complete service we are able to offer to our clients.’

The original scrapers on the Northfleet scheme were designed and installed in 1972 by Whitehead & Poole, which along with Ames Crosta and Farrer later formed Biwater Treatment Ltd. As such they have had 35 years operational life already and would not now comply with the loading requirements of WIMES.The overall supply from Biwater of all seven bridges is expected to be complete by March ahead of installation requirements.

Biwater Products is keen to continue working at Northfleet and spurred on by this success is tendering for further contracts at the flagship site.
