Bathroom manufacturers launch water efficiency labels
Posted: Thursday 12th April 2007
The Bathroom Manufacturers Association (BMA) has announced a voluntary water efficiency labelling scheme available to all manufacturers and importers of bathroom products.
The scheme aims to achieve several objectives including helping government meet its water reduction targets, raising awareness of water efficient bathroom products and promoting the importance of water efficiency.
Barrie Clarke, Director of Communication, said: "Everyone has a role to play in helping us become a water-wise society. Congratulations to the Bathroom Manufacturers on a great step forward. We hope that all Association members will get involved.
"This practical scheme will help consumers choose new bathroom products by providing water efficiency information at point of purchase - where it really counts."
Companies wishing to participate in the labelling scheme must prove their products meet with the stringent criteria as defined in the scheme proposal.
The scheme supports the Waterwise marque, launched late last year by Waterwise, the not-for-profit company set-up by the water industry. The aim of the NGO is to make the case for large scale water efficiency.
