Posted: Thursday 3rd June 2010

Atkins, the UK’s largest engineering design consultancy, has been appointed by Bristol Water to provide multidisciplinary services on its capital investment programme for the next five years. The £5 million contract will run until 2015 and covers Bristol Water’s entire AMP5 Capital Investment Programme as defined by its five year regulatory review.

The work will include infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects, involving teams from across Atkins’ water operations team and the wider business. Atkins will be providing a broad array of services including conducting feasibility studies, ecological/environmental assessments and detailed design.

Bill Irvine, design manager at Atkins, said: “We are very much looking forward to helping Bristol Water deliver this capital programme, which has some technically complex engineering challenges. Our teams will be working closely with the client to ensure the project is delivered in a time-critical and cost-effective way, drawing on expertise and innovative solutions from across our water business.”

Jim Reckhouse, director of engineering at Bristol Water, said: “We have a long history of working with Atkins and are very pleased to be continuing this by appointing them as one of two consultants to our AMP 5 Designer Framework.”
