Alfa Laval Ltd practising what they preach!

Posted: Tuesday 1st May 2012

Triple international standard certification demonstrates the commitment from Alfa Laval Limited to not only produce products that offer environmental benefits, but to ensure the company operates in a sustainable way.

As of January 2012, Alfa Laval Ltd has been certified by Independent auditors – ISOQAR – as being in compliance with three separate quality management standards, a notable achievement for a sales and service centre.

Certification has been earned in ISO 9001 Quality Management, OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety, and most recently ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standards. The benefits of ISO certification have been proven to increase customer satisfaction, internal communications, work processes, international trade, and domestic market share, all of which add up to far exceed any and all initial investment.

With the newly acquired ISO 14001 certification, Alfa Laval Ltd have pledged to help build a more sustainable future for the world by committing to: reduce their carbon footprint, purchase sustainably produced and sourced products, and reduce and recycle as much waste as possible.

Alfa Laval Limited is the only company in the heat exchanger, fluid handling and separation market to have all 3 certifications. This shows willingness to continually improve business processes, quality control, and impact on the environment.

“Andrew Panting, our QHSE Manager began this process over a year ago” said Richard Kelly, MD of Alfa Laval Ltd, “and we have learned a lot in the process that will help us better serve our clients. This hat trick of qualifications clearly demonstrates that at Alfa Laval we practice what we preach. We constantly promote the environmental benefits of our products and we think it's important to show our commitment to the future. Our new ISO certification demonstrates that, like so many of our customers, we are fully committed to the principles of sustainability and diversity and are willing to take the steps necessary to achieve them.

“Many of our customers, especially in the Environment, Municipal Waste and Oil & Gas sectors require their suppliers to meet the strict environmental criteria set by the government and their own governing bodies. Now that we have the ISO 14001 certification, this will allow us to bypass the lengthy process of demonstrating how we achieve this and help us to become their go to supplier as none of our competitors have all three qualifications”
