VEOLIA WATER SOLUTIONS & TECHNOLOGIES IS AWARDED THE CONTRACT FOR FPSO TO BE INSTALLED IN THE BALEIA AZUL FIELD

Posted: Friday 22nd October 2010

VWS Westgarth, part of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies, has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract by SBM Atlantia for their FPSO to be installed in the Baleia Azul field, CamposBasin, offshore Espirito Santo state, Brazil.

The award is for the design, supply and delivery of a single lift module seawater sulphate reduction package (SRP) system with a capacity of 20,060 m3/day (126,000 BWPD).

The SRP is designed to remove sulphates and other divalent ions from injection water to enhance oil recovery using Dow Filmtec membranes. The removal of these ions reduces the tendency of barium sulphate and strontium sulphate scale to form in the reservoir.

This new award will be VWS Westgarth’s first collaboration with SBM Atlantia and can be attributed in some manner to the success of the previous SRP projects executed for SBM Inc. of Monaco and SBM Gusto MSC of Holland in which VWS Westgarth demonstrated the ability to effectively work with and support the SBM project teams.

The contract will be project managed and engineered in VWS Westgarth’s offices in East Kilbride, in the outskirts of Glasgow, where the company’s numbers have grown to more than 160 Oil and Gas industry dedicated staff.
