Posted: Friday 17th August 2018

Tuffa UK has supplied two of its water tanks to the Premier League Football Club, Leicester City. In addition to manufacturing heating oil, fuel, water and chemical tanks, Tuffa UK also manufactures a water bowser and 2300 litre (500 gallon) effluent tank.

The water bowser and effluent tank were supplied for the new Broadcast Media Centre at Leicester City's King Power Stadium. Leicester City's Head of Security, Ian Coulter explained. New Premier League rules state that all clubs should provide 1500 square meters for their Media Centres. Obviously the Premier League has huge interest to TV viewers all over the world, so all clubs have to comply with the League's requirements. At Leicester City, we are committed to providing the very best experience to visitors to The King Power Stadium, whether they be football fans or professional visitors like the world's broadcast media.

Tuffa score a winner at Leicester City

The new Broadcast Media Centre made its debut at Leicester City's Premier League fixture against Swansea City last season. All the development work was completed in preparation for this match, and the two Tuffa Tanks were used with the toilet facilities at the Media Centre. Ian Coulter again: "We had previously used a hired Tuffa effluent tank and were impressed with the design and quality, so it was an easy decision to use their tanks for this project." he said

Premier League Tanks!

The 2016 Premier League Champions, Leicester City, required a Water Bowser to supply water to the toilets as well as an Effluent Tank to contain the waste water under the toilet facilities.

Tuffa UK supplied a 1400 litre Water Bowser comprising of a plastic inner tank with a mild steel insulate outer. This is a robust, lockable steel structure for protection against unauthorised use or vandalism. The Water Bowser is fitted with a pump to provide water at a constant pressure of 4 bar, avoiding the problem of low pressure often associated with on-site water tanks. The steel housing is insulated to protect against frost. The bowser is also fitted with a thermostatically controlled tube heater to prevent the water from freezing. This ensures that there is always a constant supply of water, whatever the weather.

In addition, the Tuffa Water Bowser incorporates a built-in rainwater harvesting system, which helps to reduce the frequency of tank refills. When re-filling is required, the bowser has an easy access filling point. Other features include 5" and 24" inspection lids, external power socket and lifting lugs for Hiab installation.

Tuffa's Effluent Tank was also installed as part of the media centre toilet facilities. This 2,300 litre tank is a sceptic unit designed to fit under cabins and buildings where mains effluent drainage may not be available.

The Tuffa Effluent Tank features two 12" inspection points at the waste removal point and internal bracing for additional strength. Lifting eyes make transport, off-loading and positioning easy to manage.

Winning team

Tuffa UK General Manager, James Shenton was delighted to work with such a high profile client. "It is testament to the high specification and build-quality of our water tanks that they were chosen for a Premier League Football Club looking after media representatives from all over the world," he said. "It's great that our tanks are being used in the Media Centre project for Leicester City, and we are delighted to be part of another winning team at The King Power Stadium."
