South East Water chooses Technocover doors for fastrack programme of security upgrades

Posted: Monday 28th July 2008

Technocover has won a contract from South East Water to survey, design, manufacture and install high security doors as part of upgrades being carried out at some 200 locations.

The estimated £1+ million contract includes single and double leaf Ultrasecure doors to LPCB* security rating 3, with entry/exit ironmongery to suit individual operational site specific needs. Window bar sets to buildings are also included in the package.

The doors are being manufactured and fastracked to sites across all parts of South East Waterís operations to meet the 26 week upgrade programme being carried out during the first part of 2008.

Depending on operational needs, the doors feature key entry with handle, and a variety of options for exit ironmongery, including panic pads, panic bars and thumb exit.

Key to clinching the contract were Technocoverís previous high levels of service and effective partnering in supplying LPCB approved high security access covers and allied products to service reservoir upgrades on South East Water sites.

Technocoverís accredited fitters are undertaking installation of the doors to a range of buildings at water storage and treatment sites across all operational areas of South East Water. The composite, plain steel plate door systems are being supplied with the option of a paint finish according to site needs.

Long service life

Technocoverís ability to demonstrate long service life from its high quality Duragalv post-galvanising system was another key factor in South East Waterís product selection.

The application of Duragalv 70, a 70 microns hot dip galvanised zinc coating applied after manufacture, will assure system performance of at least 25 years in line with South East Waterís demanding longevity needs. Technocoverís assurances of service life take into account local environmental weathering factors, primarily atmospheric corrosivity.

Technocover is the only supplier in the UK market which provides a post-galvanised finish to its steel security doors, as well as data to demonstrate product life expectancy in relation to location. Its competitors manufacture from pre-galvanised steel, which makes the zinc protective coating vulnerable to damage during fabrication processes.

South East Water supplies drinking water to 2.1 million customers in Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire following the merger of South East Water and Mid Kent Water in December 2007.
