Pump booster sets for Buchim mine

Posted: Wednesday 18th August 2010

MZT Pumpi – Skopje has successfully produced and installed 3 booster sets for a pumping station in Buchim mine – Radovish, Macedonia. The booster sets were installed in order to protect the environment from the polluted water that is generated by the mine’s work.

Additionally, MZT Pumpi, in consortium with the company Euroing Gevgelija, produced and installed another booster set for the client UNDP – Macedonia, also meant for the use in Buchim mine. This set of pumps are a part of the system for irrigation and fugitive dust control of the tailings dam.

The first three booster sets (consisted of 4 vertical multistage centrifugal pumps each) have a capacity of pumping 50 l/sec (set 1 and 2) and 30 l/sec (set 3) of polluted water accordingly. They can each pump water to an elevation of 124m, where all the polluted water is accumulated.

The other booster set, intended for irrigation and dust control, is made up of 3 Single-stage centrifugal pumps - horizontal version, and has a total capacity of 20 l/sec.

Specification of the pump booster sets is as follows:

- Booster set of 4 pumps x 2 pieces - HS 15MSS80-5, Q=50 l/sec, H=124m. Each pump is Multistage centrifugal vertical version, and has Q=12,5 l/sec, and operates at speed n= 2900 rpm

- Booster set of 4 pumps x 1 piece – HS 13MSS65-6, Q=30 l/sec, H=124m. Each pump is Multistage centrifugal vertical version, and has Q=7,5 l/sec, and operates at speed n= 2900 rpm

- Booster set of 3 pumps x 1 piece – SCP 40-250, Q=20 l/sec, H=65m, and N=33,0 KW. Each pump is Singe-stage centrifugal horizontal version, and has Q=5,5 l/sec, and operates at speed n= 2900 rpm
