From the kitchen and garden, Greenfinch and Landia bring about Biogas success

Posted: Monday 18th February 2008

Tough, durable MPTK cutter pumps made by Landia are playing an important role in the successful operation of a pioneering biogas plant run by leading Anaerobic Digestion Specialists, Greenfinch.

At the UK’s first full-scale biowaste digester of its kind, Landia’s cutter pumps macerate food waste and grass cuttings (approximately 5,000 tonnes per year), to prepare the mixture for anaerobic digestion.

Requiring only minimal maintenance and without creating downtime due to breakdowns, Landia’s MPTKs help Greenfinch’s plant continuously transform volatile matter into biogas.

“Landia’s equipment has done exactly what the company said it would do,” said Greenfinch’s Operations Director, Russell Mulliner.

He added: “The pumps deal with everything that’s thrown at them, and still work very efficiently”.
