FP MCCANN'S PRECAST CONCRETE BOX CULVERTS INSTALLED BENEATH HAUL ROAD TO NEW SCOTTISH MINE

Posted: Tuesday 3rd December 2019

Precast concrete Box Culvert sections manufactured and supplied by FP McCann, have been installed beneath a new haul road under construction as part of the major infrastructure to a new underground mine development in Aberfeldy, Highland Perthshire, Scotland.

Major oilfields services company M-I SWACO is developing the Duntanlich mine which contains barite, a unique mineral used to increase the density of drilling fluids in the process of North Sea oil extraction. The mine is expected to be operational later next year.

Commenting on the culvert installation, Site Manager for Robertson Civil Engineering, Marc Anderson said, “Precast concrete box culverts have provided the ideal engineering solution to carry the new haul road over this section of the River Tay flood plain. The offsite quality assured manufactured precast concrete products together with their design loading capabilities, gives us peace of mind that we have a very stable platform on which to construct the haul road above. The units were simple and quick to install, demonstrating the flexibility that precast concrete box culvert sections can offer in such civil engineering projects.” Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
