DURAPIPE UK CLEANS UP WITH SOUTH WEST WATER

Posted: Monday 4th October 2010

Durapipe UK has received a major boost from South West Water, as the water and sewerage company has selected the leading pipework manufacturer as its sole supplier of ABS and PVC-U pipework systems for all of its water treatment plants.

Following a review of its pipework network, South West Water decided to standardise its specifications and work with one pipework manufacturer to ensure the most effective and reliable pipework solution is achieved.

The main criteria for South West Water, was to work with a manufacturer that has all the necessary approvals and regulations demanded of the water treatment industry and in particular Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) and approval from the Secretary of State for the environment (Reg 31).

Durapipe UK is the only plastic pipework manufacturer which has Reg 31 approval on both its ABS and PVC-U pipework ranges, making it the only supplier that could provide the required product range, coupled with the necessary approvals.

As a result, South West Water has standardised its pipework specification to ensure that its field engineers and sub-contractors only utilise Durapipe ABS and PVC-U pipework systems for water treatment and chemical dosing applications across its network of water treatment plants.

Commenting on the decision, Graham Cookson, Refit and Logistics manager for South West Water, said: “We wanted to standardise our pipework specification to a single manufacturer which has all the required compliances to support our industry in terms of WRAS and Reg 31 approval.

“Durapipe UK not only provides these approvals, but also has the product quality and performance to match. The decision to use Durapipe UK was also made easier by the level of both technical and customer support and professionalism that is offered by the team.”

Durapipe PVC-U allows the safe conveyance of many acids, alkalis and chemical concentrates making it the ideal pipework system for use in water treatment applications. Durapipe ABS offers installers and end users a variety of benefits; its corrosion free properties and wide temperature capabilities make it the ideal system to carry a variety of low temperature fluids.

The lightweight nature of both Durapipe ABS and PVC-U also makes it much quicker and easier to install compared with alternative products, offering significant time and cost savings during the installation stage.
