Cast iron success

Posted: Friday 15th May 2009

Saint-Gobain PAM UK’s acclaimed Ensign range of cast iron drainage systems including its rapid installation version, EEZI-FIT, has been selected for use in a brand new, mixed-use, urban regeneration project. ‘The Royal Arsenal’ is set to showcase the latest in urban regeneration at a 76 acre redevelopment on the site of an old royal artillery base in South East London.

The sound-proofing qualities and long life span of Ensign make it an ideal choice for the high quality apartments it has been installed in – ensuring noise is not spread throughout the building, which would ruin the luxurious ambience of the exclusive building, and it also requires minimal maintenance and has a long service life.

Both Ensign and EEZI-FIT drainage systems will be used on the project and the installation includes use of the new manifolds and boss branches – part of the ongoing product development of the EEZI-FIT range.

Mike Rawlings, Product Manager – Soil & Drain for Saint-Gobain PAM UK, discusses the Ensign range: “We are really pleased that the Ensign range has been chosen for ‘The Royal Arsenal’ development. It is a perfect example of where Ensign is particularly suitable due to its quick installation time for projects on a tight time schedule. Its acoustic properties ensure noise spread is kept to a minimum and its fire-resistant benefits mean fire can not spread from one apartment to another through the pipework, which is a very real danger with plastic pipes. The fact that it is made from 97% recycled materials and is 100% recyclable at the end of its extended life span, means that it meets the needs of even the most eco conscious developer.”
